Empowerment... Not a popular word

for the African trapped here in Amerikkka.

The revolving cycle of dependance has got ya!

Gotcha sittin on your ass,

Gotcha spittin on your past,

We need to learn real fast

what it's like to be in control.

Control of your resources is what I'm sayin.

Make your own dough, "boss man" ain't paying.

Why should he? We don't use what we got.

United we stand, divided is not

the way to get paid, if that's all that you want.

Be your own man, take risks, don't front.

But watch the drug game,

that's empowerment also.

Niggas get paid, but bring us down so,

we sit and actually absorb T.V.

our personal talent lay dormant.

If we took the time, to learn our mind,

prosperity will only stem from it.

Empowerment is taking over your life

and doing what you do best to survive.

Since we all are different you must ignore

the heads that sway you into being someone else.

Someone that just sits there, and stare.

Then wake up in the morning, and go where?

Who do you work for? It's O.K. to have a job.

Just do your own thing, just do your own thing,

and avoid this cultures' sob.
