As there is no way I can find to contact the author of the debate regarding the confederate flag, I am forced to post this here. While I in no way support slavery, racial discrimination, or treason in any way, I believe that flying the confederate flag falls under the 1st amendment to the consitution, freedom of speech. A symbol can stand for whatever a person wishes it to... there is no reason that the Nazi swaztica can't be substituded for the multiplication sign, or even the corporate logo of the last factory I worked at (http://www.prestolite.com) In all fairness, to say that the 'stars & bars' flag (to differentiate it from the TRUE confederate flag) stands for slavery and continued racial discrimination, then you must also agree that the stars & stripes stands for slavery as well. Why do I say this? Lets examine the facts shall we? The Confederate States of America (the articles of Confederation lasted from 1776 until 1789?) had no flag that I am aware of, and so Old Glory shale be tributed to this era, as most people dont realize the Constitution was not our first form of government anyways. Then along came the constitution of the United States of America, and a national flag was drawn up. If I'm not mistaken, the Betsy Ross type with a circle of 13 stars in the union, and 13 stripes. Then came the current version, of 13 stripes for the colonies, and a star for each state. Then from 1861-1865, the South susceeded, and the 'Confederate Flag' stood for slavery, and now, we shale say that Old Glory was no longer tainted by this disgrace. So, we have: FLAG NAME Years Time Union Jack 1690-1776 86years Old Glory 1776-1861 85years Confederate 1861-1865 4years Hmm, I hear NO bitching about the British flag, I hear NO bitching about the American Flag, yet for less then 1/20th as long, the Confederate flag gets burned to censored for it... hmm. Sounds like discrimination to me. As I was telling a friend about this, he asked me if I was pro-slavery... here was my response: No. It's morally wrong. Not even getting into the legal aspects of which every civilized nation on earth has banned the act of 'owning' another human being, and as part & parcel of the Geneva Convention, as well as the charter of the United Nations, slavery is illegal However, I do support the stars & bars, and here is why.... I see it as the symbol of the people trying to retain control over a morally & ethically corrupt governement which no longer is of, for & by the people. Its the symbol of a group of people who would rather die then live in a nation where the ruling elite (congress & senate) no longer truely represent the people. As such, the Civil War was the evidence that Thomas Jefferson was quite right... that the elastic clause should be eliminated, and that every 20years, the people should disban the government, and start over. Twenty minutes ago, this section below contained a disertation on the failings of the current government... but thats another story, for another time. Long Live the the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!

Alafia! I'm a professional performer, writer, radio personality, & ordained metaphysical minister. I've enjoyed the site for years. I've recently returned home to the religion of Ifa. I study at Ile Iwa Pele of Egbe Sankofa Kingdom Gods of Afraka in Philly, PA. I am the host of two live internet radio shows: "Grace of the Griot", which celebrates the storytelling tradition, and "Ashe'!", which covers the arts, politics, Africentric spirituality, and holistic health. It's heard on www.octobergallery.com , then click on OctoberLIVE, which is the station. I both host and produce my shows. Ifa was the most popular topic to date. I had my Baba, Alaase Sekou Olayinka , as the guest. Many people responded to our instant message board with questions! Our ancestors are calling for us to reclaim what is ours. I'm glad I've come home. Odabo, Eyele Yetunde http://eyele.homestead.com

Dear readers i am a22 year old black queen however I do not believe in all of Yorubas principles there is sin and there is a devil and those who follow his influences. If mankind were not born into sin then the world would be perfect. To imply that we are in total control of our principles is to be unrealistic and self serving. There is a supreme ruler called by many names and believing in Jehovah keeps me grounded .To be incontrol of our principles is to say we are self sufficient in that case the creator is not needed. I have felt the anointing of the holy spirit and this is something that science or any one else could never explain
so much information....very good...thank you chris

Hi I do not know much about African culture but i try and learn as much as i can, i would like to know if a person can adopt a culture that is not theirs, or does culture have to be that you were born into that ethnic group therefore you have the ancestoral blood of that culture. I grew uup in a fairly religious home therefore i never learned much about my own culture and it is not practised much the much i know is from reading in books or hearing from friends whose families have some form of culture - I think your site is very good by the way i love the explanations it gives. Thanks and regards
I am very glad coming across your site and I will like to thank you very much for all that you have stated about Ifa, this is a clear prove that no one can ever stop the work of Olodumare. Ifa is parceled with all totalities of wisdom that will surely lead human kinds and the world in general to the highest level of peace.

I found this site very educating and interesting. There are so many peaple even at home down here who does not know half of the info being given here. I'm knowing for the first time that the Yorubas does not believe that we were born sinners! That sound interesting. More grease to your elbow. Ogun a gbe wa o ASE!

Hello there. First congratulations for the web and the whole information provided. Very nice. Secondly I would like to ask a big favour. I'm desperately looking for a Babalorisa based in London UK what is being very difficult to find since I don't know anyone related to the IFA over here. I would be most grateful if you could e-mail me some names in case you are aware of some. Ase and many thanks... Paulo Ribeiro
Alafia, These folks helped me in a hour of need. Those of you that can help them please do so they are doing some wonderful things in the community. Baba Alafia talked with them about his house in cinncinati, ohio. Odabo
Baba Alafia, it's been one year today since your passing. We love you and we miss you so much. Your spirit and your teachings lives on in me strongly every single day. I hope your journey home has been a good one. This web site will forever be dedicated to you!!!
thank you for this site. you have to know, not fear that someday, you are going to die. until you know and embrace that, you are useless. do not leave this planet without scars...skydiver.
This is an excellent site which nicely conveys the thrill and the wisdom of West African spirituality. Thank you
Super, super site. Very well done indeed. Should you ever wish to promote it further and reach thousands of more "fans" please submit your url to http://www.1heluva.com/cgi-bin/join.cgi?refer=14147
Alafia -- Thank you for your wonderful site!!! It is really ridiculous for persons who feel differently about what is given here to "waste" their time submitting foolish comments. If you come across this site and disagree with its content then you should be savvy enough to move on to another site that you can relate to more positively. It is unfair and super-distasteful for anyone to submit vicious comments in this guestbook. Before you attempt to displace or condemn anyone responsible for this site and related IFA sites, don't let ignorance be your guide. For your information, this is the very thing that people who "TRULY" APPRECIATE THIS AND OTHER RELATED SITES ARE TRYING TO RISE ABOVE AND DIMINISH OUT OF OUR DAILY LIVES! Do your research!!! Then chart a path for yourself. Remember, you came into this life alone, at least technically speaking, and you must live your life according to that which fulfills it without denigrating or pressing adverse ideologies upon others. On the other hand, I just want to thank the rightous and disciplined brothers and sisters who work hard at helping all of us seeking the divine path of eternal IFA via disseminating information on IFA over the web and other media resources. ADUPE!!!
GREAT COMING EVENTS The most thrilling, the most glorious truth in all the world is the Secong Coming of Jesus Christ. Today as we look about us we see pessimism on every side: but the Bible is the only Book in the world that predicts the future. Thus the Bible is more modern than tomorrow's newspaper. The Bible accurately foretells the future, and the Bible says that the consummation of all things shall be the coming again of Jesus Christ to this earth. No man knows the time of the coming of Christ. It may be next year, it may be tomorrow. No one knows. Jesus said that He didn't know. The angels don't know. Only God knows the hour and the time of the coming of Christ Jesus back to this world again. But Christ did leave certain signs, and He said, " When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your hands; for your redemption draweth nigh."........
Alafia to all This message is just a short info alert pertaining to the post previous to mine. The site is simply a site dedicated to bashing those that practice any form of an Afrikan religion. At least they let you kow that right off the top. It seems as if a few people that were done wrong by those posing as "priests" in the religion got together and decided to deride the whole tradition. I could not sit back and not say anything to the strong and believing while these hypocrits refer to my ancestors' practices as "made up" and a "hodge podge" of beliefs. So there is sort of a fore-warning as to what the site is about. They speak as if they are a bunch of "I'm gonna convert the world no matter what" Christiansor worst a group of confused and unofficial atheists that have lost site of spirit. Odabo
Greetings to All. I come peacefully and on friendly terms to let people here know about our online resource for people in the religions who have been abused, conned, harrassed, threatend, etc. We all know it goes on and the victims of this abuse are largely relegated to a closet of silence. Victims of spiritual abuse in these religions will be able to get support and share their stories anonymously and with full recognition of the validity of their experiences. Please visit our site and message boards at: http://thebelievers.freeservers.com In our "house" the victim *is* the authority on these religions, not priests. As we respect the authority of priests in their own forums, we ask for the same respect for victims at our own forum. What we can do for victims of abuse is give them the space to be an authority over their own situations and also we want to help others who are seeking to leave the religions. Though you certainly don't have to leave your faith to get support for the abuse you have suffered, but that option is always open in our "house." Peace be to all. The Believers

I m really interested in finding the source of these teachings...There seem to be records as the progression of the religion is often associated with other documented events in history. On another note, you offer a link to Oluwo Philip N-E-I-M-A-R-K!?#$ 's website called the IFA foundation of North America at http://www.ifafoundation.org. While I greatly apprecaite the spirit you are trying to impart, 10 seconds on this site reveals it's obvious exploitive intent. My journey to your site, and through your site, afforded me a very peaceful and unguarded openness. People only follow the links of websites they have really appreciated, feeling the link has been vouched for. While the product offered may have some value, again the intent of the site is unavoidable. Most importantly, it invites doubts of your efforts, and hinders acceptance of what you seem to be so generously trying to impart.
It is sooooo refreshing to see the positive side of our culture and heritage represented here on the internet. Before anyone who disagrees with the teachings of Ife` decide to enter hate or negative thoughts on this page at least be able to spell the words you choose to use!
the confederate falg will not come down...and it never should..its is a symble of my and other southerners heritage...whta ever crap about the flag ya'll have written before is a bunch of grade A BULLSHIT!
Iwori wofun to all Orisa worshipper. We need to stand up, and make our presence felt in these United States. We have to put temples together that will stand as symbols of the love and the dedication that we have for the Orisa. In the many years that Orisa have been on this hemispere what have we established? A house is built on wisdom but it is established on understanding. It is now time to put some understanding in our experience. Strong bold images of the Orisa are needed and the call for scholars/sages are needed to come forward. Our people need direction not the "419" rip-off. My appeal is for the "Greatest Good". Idigba O, Alaafia to the host and all the eyes who will see this post. Aboru, Aboye, Abosise gbogbo babalawo patapata agba aiye. I am still so happy for the work that Ifaolofin has presented on this site. It is a place many of us can come and summit comments, share ideas, and keep in contact with people of a "like mind". It is my wish to make a call to all Ifa priests in America and let us put a conference together that would address Ifa's future in America. We need to stand more united for the stability of our religion and our people. Ifa laiye o. Ifa will inherit the world. Ogbe Sa says,Truth the traveller of the narrow path , lies the traveller of the broad way. To ever so be truthful is the one the Dieties will help. I am interested in any conversation about how we can represent Ifa in the country in the magnitude that Ifa and the Orisa's deserves to be represented. To anyone who is interested I along with other Babalawo will be speaking on IFA on a continuing basis in Harlem on Tuesday's. All Ifa priest who would like to contribute to this lecture please e-mail me. We would especially like people to chant and sing song about IFA that are not common to the lukumi experience only. Come and let IFA be represent in a wonderful way. ......................Aboru Aboye, Ifakunle...
Thank you so much for producing an educational web-site for those of us who are interested in the practice. Peace, Ifetayo A.
I AM A BABALAWO FROM NIGERIA .I REAL APPRECIATE ALLA YOUR EFFORT AND I PRAY THAT ELEDUMARE WILL BE WITH YOU ALL AND I ACCORD YOU WITH ALL THE BLESSING FROM OGBE OSE AND OSETURA SO IT WILL BE TO YOU ALL

the is the stupidest site i have ever been on!!! There is nothing but racist on here. I had the pleasure of reading the letter on burning the Confederate Flag it was very interesting! NOT!!!!!!!!! All of yall think the flag represents racism but it doesn't!!! it represents the men who fought the north because they tried to take over the South we were not about to let that happen so we were going to leave the republic but the north remebered that they needed our money so they wouldn't let us go!! All the blacks who think that the flag represents racism i have little piece of my mind, yall had NOTHING to do with the Civil War it was between the yankees and the Dixies, and all we wanted was freedom to live the way we wanted, now yall are making a big deal over it because yall want the attention and you know it nothing to do with you!!!! And another thing yall seem to forget that your tribal leaders and african kings sold you in the first place, so why don't you place blame where blame is deserved?
Greetings from Larry Bishop
